Are you experiencing massive success? I have been an educator for over 10 years. I have found that one of the most interesting conversations you can have as an educator is on the topic of success. Everybody wants to experience success but it is very complicated to try and get everyone to agree on what it means. This is a major barrier for educators that are trying to teach people how to be more successful. Nevertheless, I find myself writing an article about “massive success”. Well, I guess we better start with some definitions.
The easiest place to start is the definition of massive. We can all easily agree that massive refers to something that is large in scale, amount, or degree. Strength-based leadership is a topic I became familiar with almost 4 years ago. Prior to diving into this topic, I was a student of various self-help and personal development authors. I began a long journey of self-discovery and development. I learned a lot of great information but I found it difficult to implement the theories into my life. As a result, I wasn’t changing. I was focusing on trying to fix my weakness but I wasn’t having much success.
I will write a lot about what I have learned about strength-based leadership on this platform. However, I could not start there. The reason should be obvious. Think about this… if you do not have a grasp on a topic then you cannot teach it to others. If I do not understand what my strengths are and I am not first operating in them then I cannot coach you into doing the same. This is the purpose of this article and the video that supplements the message. Continue reading “Why You Should Start to Focus on Your Strengths”
Do you remember how it felt to believe that anything was possible?
Fight the urge to brush past that question as if it is one you think about everyday because most people don’t. So let me pose the question again. Do you remember how it felt to believe that anything was possible? Think back to a time in your life when delusional optimism was the norm. Take yourself back to the place when you believed that anything was possible. Think back to when you believed as we teach our children that anything was possible. Now ask yourself, what happened?
The Gallup Organization has been researching the impact of human behavior on the economy for decades. According to an article written by Steve Crabtree and Gallup’s 142-country study on the State of the Global Workplace, “Only 13% of employees worldwide are engaged at work.” They said that about 20% of American employees are so disengaged at their job that they actively spread discontent throughout the workplace. Add that to the 50% of other employees who are just there getting a paycheck, living for the weekend, and doing just enough not to be fired. All together you have a whopping 70% of the American workforce that’s not engaged. Does any of this sound familiar? Continue reading “PASSION: What it Means to Live Life at 212°”
